Things to Do in Cape Charles This Summer
Farmers Market at The Oyster Farm
Every Saturday for the whole summer, head on over to The Oyster Farm at Kings Creek from 9 AM to 12 PM for a farmers market featuring fresh locally-grown produce, homemade food items, and handmade crafts from local farmers, bakers, and artisans. Support local businesses and farmers at this weekly event while you enjoy quality food and items all summer long!
And when you’re done, enjoy a fine meal at The Oysters Farm’s premier seafood restaurant with a stunning view of the waterfront.
Concerts in the Park
Happening every Saturday from June 24 to September 9, 2023, Cape Charles’ Concerts in the Park is a series of outdoor concerts at Cape Charles Central Park, featuring a new local band, artist, and musician every night. Enjoy a night of good music out in nature starting at 7 PM, absolutely free!
Featured artists include the USAF concert band, Morgan Lynsey Band, Can U Dig It, The Jangling Reinharts, Good Shot Judy, Better By Tuesday, Mashup & Cozy Condition, Allen Hudson & The Halfmoons, The Deloreans, Brasswind, LoveFest with The English Channel, and Cat5.
Friends of the Cape Charles Memorial Library Book Sale
Summertime is the perfect time to get into a new hobby or rediscover an old passion. If you’ve been feeling like getting into reading more, or want to find your next big page-turner, the Friends of the Cape Charles Memorial Library’s Book Sale is the place for you! Happening every Friday until September 15, 2023, in front of the Cape Charles Memorial Library from 10 AM to 4 PM, each day offers a new genre of books for you to discover, from YA to science fiction.
They will also be accepting book donations by genre per day, namely, young adult books on June 16, science fiction on July 12, mystery on August 18, and autobiographies and biographies on September 15.
“Catching Shadows” Photography Exhibit Opening
Former New York fashion photographer Anne Nielsen brings to Cape Charles a unique look into the lives and traditions of Eastern Shore Native Americans. Taken from 2009-2010, the tintype portraits and recorded voices of these Native Americans tell the story of their rich culture and heritage, as well as the modern struggles their marginalized community goes through.
See the photographs up close and hear Anne’s and the Accohannock tribal members’ stories firsthand on June 22, 2023, at 6 PM in the Ker Place garden.
Dine by the Vine
Have a night of fine dining and savor the local vintage at Dine By The Vine, organized by Habitat for Humanity to benefit the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Featuring live music from different bands and genres, these special weekends are full of fun summer activities for the whole family to enjoy, as well as beer, craft, and food vendors where you can have a snack or a good drink while you rock out to some tunes.
Featured concerts include Reggae on the Bay on July 15, which benefits the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Premiere Band on August 19, and The Deloreans for a special 80’s themed weekend concert on September 15 to 17, 2023.
